Compassionate Care by Dr. Katalin Kalmar – About

Dr. Katalin Kalmar is a compassionate doctor, who looks after her patients from the first visit until complete healing.

She is a European Board Certified Coloproctologist by the European Board of Surgical Qualifications (UEMS, EBSQ coloproctology) and a Hungarian Board Certified General Surgeon and Hungarian Board Certified Surgical Gastroenterologist.

She graduated from the University of Pecs in Hungary, completed her surgical training at the Department of Surgery, University of Pecs in Hungary and at Lanarkshire NHS Trust Hospitals in Scotland, United Kingdom.

She completed two fellowships in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and in proctology and functional proctology at the prestigious St Mark’s Hospital and Academic Institute in London, United Kingdom.

She is an Associate Professor at the University of Pecs in Hungary and holds a PhD degree in surgery of the stomach and completed her Habilitation degree in the investigations and treatment of Functional Proctological Diseases. She presented her clinical findings on several international congresses from Yokohama to Dublin, from Budapest to New York. She published in several esteemed scientific journals from Gut to British Journal of Surgery, from Magyar Sebeszet to Colorectal Disease.

Her main areas of practice are diseases of the rectum and anus and related areas, such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistula, pruritus ani, anal pain, pilonidal disease and hidradenitis.

She is a keen and well-trained colonoscopist, removing polyps, diagnosing and treating different types of inflammations and conducting the aftercare and further investigations for these problems.

She is particularly passionate about functional coloproctological diseases, conducting all the investigations and treatments from the basics to the most complex for obstructed defecation type of constipation, anal incontinence, pelvic floor descent, anismus, non-relaxing puborectalis syndrome, fecal soiling and rectocele.
